Day 50: I trust You, Lord. Examining myself. 2 Corinthians 13:5
A good bit of this walk has been about changing your habits and creating new ones. One new habit you should create is constantly examining yourself. What exactly does it mean to examine yourself? Well, what happens when you examine? You review, look over, or inspect. You look at things from every angle, flipping it over on both sides. That’s what it means to examine yourself. You are to look in every nook and cranny of yourself. Seek out the sin so you won't be found unworthy of His presence.
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? 2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV
Examine yourself! Don't wait until a brother or sister has to pull you up. Take inventory of yourself. Where your thoughts idle today? Did you speak against the word of God? Where your actions pure? Is your heart clean? Is there any area of your life left untidy? Look in the mirror and repent.
Take some time and learn who you are. This will help you identify the areas of weakness and events that cause you to falter. Far too many believers have not taken the time to get to know themselves. Have a relationship with you before attempting to have a relationship with others. Furthermore, you were not created to be who others want you to be. Take a step out of their shoes and get to know the real you.
Is Jesus in you? Through self-examination, you will discover what's truly in you. Is it Jesus or the father of lies? Do you act out of love or necessity? Are your intentions pure? Are you clean enough to house the Spirit?
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 1 Corinthians 6:19 KJV
And finally, at the end of the verse you are asked if you are unworthy (reprobate)? Are you worthy of the one true living God? You have to know for yourself. You can't depend on others.
It's time to take a long, serious look at yourself. Ask Holy Spirit to uncover any hidden sins in your life. Repent, or turn away from it, and go forward, never looking back. Do this daily, hourly, minute by minute, every second of the day, or as often as needed. The Spirit wants to reside in you. The Spirit wants to commune with you. Will you let Him? Things will be so much better if you will.
Examine yourself, clean house, and trust that the Spirit will come in.
Examine time,
