Day 81 - Trust Walk

Trust WalkDay 81: I trust you, Lord. Deprogramming for a new download. Matthew 23

What if you were told to forget everything you know? Could you do it? Often times when you start a fitness or nutrition plan with professionals, they will tell you to do exactly that: forget everything [you think] you think you know. In your aim to live a healthier lifestyle, you diligently work to do just that. You focus on deprogramming and defragging your mind.

What if God told you to forget everything you know and allow His spirit to teach you (John 16:13). Why is this such a task? Just wipe your mind clean and start over. Simple as that! But you find yourself struggling, holding onto every teaching that’s been passed down from generation to generation. Some of these teachings are older than 2000 years old, others were put into place by Constantine and the Roman Catholic Church, and some are vain traditions of a denomination, but you hold on to them.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30

This passage was originally spoken by Jesus to the heavy burdened who had to keep the Pharisees additional 'laws' in order to be deemed righteous via their heavy system of works. Later He rebuked the Pharisees for adding these burdens to the people (the law was already too hard to keep and they added more?!?).

Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. Matthew 23:1-4

Do you ever feel like this when you are in Christ? But He said His yoke is light. It’s not heavy so why is following Him so hard and burdensome? Because you aren’t following Him in complete obedience. Complete obedience is easy. If He directs you to stop doing something, without hesitation, stop doing it. There you go: life made easier. Do only what He says to do and nothing else. Forget what others are saying. They don’t matter. Only He matters. Yes, He uses others to minister to you but please believe He tried to minister to you first. You decided not to heed the instruction so it was given to someone else to give it to you.

How are the religious strongholds on you today any different than the ones placed on people during Jesus’ time? These strongholds were created by people, not God. Spend some time with Him and let Him lead you. Remove the burden of religious holds and be free. If you are unable to release them, then know that no matter what you learn and are presented with, you will forever remain heavy laden. Even now as you read this, if you can’t hear it, read it, or see it, you will never be free. Hear it! Read it! See it! Understand it! Follow it!

Do not remain blind after seeing the truth. Doing so will leave you bound.

Living free,
