Day 80: I trust you, Lord. Exchanging with my kingdom currency: obedience. Hebrews 11
There’s this misconception that if you simply have faith you will receive whatever you want from God and His Kingdom. It’s on the basis of a few scriptures that are taken in part and not the complete Word of God. For instance, people will remind you that if you ask, you shall receive (Matthew 7:7) and that if you delight yourself in the Lord, He will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4). They forget that God requires only one thing in order to give you everything: obedience.
Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. Matthew 22:36-38
You may argue that we are no longer under the law. But ask yourself: which law? God’s Law has not changed. The Mosaic Law was replaced when grace was provided through the sacrifice of Christ. God’s Law is still the same: LOVE GOD. Jesus Christ said if you love Him, then you will keep His commandments (John 14:15). Those that do not love Him will not keep His commandments. Everything you do stems from the purest form of love (or lack thereof) of God. In John 14, Jesus stressed the message of loving Him five times. You can believe this was important. In four of these scriptures, He indicated that love was equated to keeping His commandments…or not. Nothing else.
There’s this mathematical method of proving something called a proof. You start with what you believe to be true and prove it by applying math rules in a step-by-step manner. The last reading showed that faith is equal to obedience. Using the mathematical steps to prove a statement, you will see how faith and obedience can be interchanged.
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6
In this scripture, it states that you cannot please God if you don’t have faith. What you will see proved here is that this verse can also be understood as ‘But without obedience, it is impossible to please God.’

Resolution
|
No one should ever open their mouth to say it only takes faith. As you read in the last reading, without obedience, faith does absolutely nothing. Sure you may get what you want, but be reminded that the prince of the air has a kingdom and he can give you gifts as well. Obedience means complete compliance with a given rule or law. Obedience shows love. Who are you obeying and therefore loving? Where is your faith today? Whom you obey is where you will put your faith. His righteousness will secure you a great outcome (Jeremiah 29:11). The gifts of Satan will only lead to destruction (Matthew 7:13-14; James 4:7).
