Day 55: I trust You, Lord. Open my eyes, so I can see. 2 Kings 6:15-23
If you could see the host of angels surrounding you, you would have nothing to fear. Just imagine it, legion upon legion standing at the ready to attack anything that comes against you. Just say the word: Lord, assign my angels to… (fill in the blank). They are just waiting to receive a command. Oh what a site that would be if you could only see it. If you knew what was surrounding you, nothing and no one would ever bother you. It’s glorious!
The issue is you may not have asked to see what’s there in the spiritual realm. Is it that simple? Basically it is, but your asking must come in complete faith that you will see.
And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. 2 Kings 6:17 KJV
See, simple. All Elisha did was ask. Did you read that? It said it right there: Open his eyes, that he may see. And the servant saw. He saw what was invisible to the physical eye. He was immediately able to see what was in the spirit realm, and boy was it great!
And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, LORD, open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria. 2 Kings 6:20 KJV
The second time Elisha prayed this, the men’s eyes were opened in the physical (he’d prayed for blindness to fall on them in verse 18). These men were surprised, but not because they were seeing in the spiritual. They were shocked because they were being led by the man they were sent to kill.
There is a major difference in seeing in the spirit verses seeing in the physical. When the servant’s eyes were opened, he was astonished and fear immediately left him. When the men’s (assuming soldiers) eyes were open, they too were astonished but in immediate fear. They were in the midst of their enemy.
Where are your eyes looking? Are you only seeing the physical? What’s in front of you? Or are you looking beyond what’s in front of you to what God has in place for you. Again, as mentioned before, if you could only see what’s around you as a child of God, you’d walk around with nothing bothering you.
Ask Him to open your eyes. Be prepared, though, for dreams, visions, trances, and insight into a realm many will not see. You will have an insight on things you may or may not understand. Seek Him on regarding everything you see. Some things you will see are literal while others will be metaphorical. Dig through the word and educate yourself on ‘seeing’. There is much to be seen, if you will only open the right eyes.
I’m looking,
