Day 58: I trust You, Lord. I'm set apart. Luke 1:76-80
You may have heard prophets or prophetic people speak of their 'wilderness season.' Really, it's just a period of time God uses to prepare and teach you. For some, this teaching period is short. For others, it can last several years. Regardless, it's a time when God has set you apart for some intense training. Training for what? Most likely training for you to speak His mind to believers and nonbelievers.
And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel. Luke 1:76-80 KJV
The speaker here is the father of John the Baptist. He is prophesy over his son's life. John was to be the forerunner for Jesus. He was to be
The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Isaiah 40:3 KJV
John spent a very significant amount of time in the desert. While there, he committed his life to complete preparation for his assignment. Once he was "revealed to Israel," he publicly preached only a short few months before he was beheaded. Some might ask why he died such a horrible death shortly after leaving the dessert, but his task was completed.
The time you are set apart can be tough for you. During this time you will be stretched. Your faith will be strengthened and tested. You will commune with God like never before. You may lose quite a few people out of your life. You may feel lonely in your solitude, but lean into God more. That's where your joy and peace reside.
How do you leave the desert? You shrug your shoulders and say "Let thy will be done," that's how. You stop focusing on your solitude and separation and focus, instead, on your training. These grounds will be where you are molded and formed to be God's oracle. So just accept it. Let go of whatever you are holding on to. Throw your hands up and surrender. Apply what you are learning and before you know it, you'll be elevated and back in fine pastures.
God set you apart so that you can become completely in tune with His voice. As mentioned before, it's a time of solitude: it's just you and Him. Allow the intimacy to shift your perspective on things. Allow it to mold you. Before you know it, you'll be out and boy will you have been changed.
Being in the wilderness may not seem easy, but if you will trust Him, it can become just that. Be set apart so that you can be set up higher.
