Day 33 - Trust Walk

Trust Walk Day 33: I trust You, Lord. Dancing in the rain. Joel 2:23

Water can be a powerful force here on earth. It’s gentle enough to cleanse the smallest cut yet powerful enough to move the tallest building. When water comes rushing down from hill, pray that you are not in its path.  It will suck you in and take you under it. You may survive it...you may not.

Do you every wonder why during a storm, the largest tree falls but the skinniest ones stand?  You have to look at the root system to determine why. If the roots of the tree are deep in the earth, that tree will stand. When they aren't deep or are lose, that tree will fall. The same is true for you.  If your roots are planted deep in Christ, when the rain and wind comes, you will stand firm. The mud may slide around you, the wind may tug at you relentlessly, your ground may become soggy, but you will not fall.

Throughout the Bible, rain has been used to bless and curse people. For instance, rain was often sent if the people were obedient.

If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them; Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. Leviticus 26:3-4 KJV

Here, the people obviously needed the rain for their crops to be produced. Plentiful rain means plentiful crops and filled watering holes for animals. Plentiful rain meant wealth and prosperity for the people.  Without rain, they would not only be unable to feed their families but also unable to barter for the best of the best.

Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.  Hosea 6:3 KJV

Here obedience renders the latter AND the former rain. The former rain is the rain that falls to prepare the soil for planting.  The latter rain is the rain that falls to help ripen the crop for harvest in the fall. Because the book of Hosea mostly references God's people returning to Him, you can guess that this reference is a blessing as well, a spiritual blessing.

The same rain that can be used to bless the people can be used to curse them as well.

Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them; And then the Lord's wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the Lord giveth you.  Deuteronomy 11:16-17 KJV

No crop means the people will starve. The animals will starve. Wealth and prosperity will dwindle.  You will either move off the land promised to you or stay and die. This verse applies so strongly to today. Can you see it? What does moving off the land represent?  What type of death is this? What can the rain be compared to?  What about the land?  That’s that?  (Something to think about.)

For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.  Genesis 7:4 KJV

Here, God told Noah that in seven days, He was going to send rain for 40 days and nights.  This rain will cause the earth to be wiped clean. Everything that was created would be destroyed. The earth will be purified in a sense.

You see, when rain falls, it washes everything it touches. It refreshes the place. It cools down the earth. It waters the crops. It provides the most sustaining element needed: drinking water for animals and humans alike. Without this rain, the world would be in ruins. The same is true with too much of it.  It has the power to create and destroy in the earth realm.

Like the earth's seasons, depending on what season you are in, rain can be a welcomed change (summer season or a spiritual desert season) or something you will want to avoid (winter or a season of disobedience). Regardless, the rain will come. Unfortunately, in the natural and in the spiritual you don't get to decide when it will come, but thank God you can influence the type of rain that falls.

With obedience to God, you can be assured that when the heavy rains fall, they will be a blessing on you. There are so many physical blessing rain brings to the earth.  You can also be assured that in the spirit realm, blessing are being showered upon you as well. You will be revived, renewed, refreshed, reset, rejuvenated,... and every other 're-' word you can think of that has a positive meaning.  It's such a good place to be in. It's akin to being in a warm shower after a long and hard day at work. Oh what a relaxing joy a warm shower can be!!  Can you feel it??!!

Let's not focus on the opposite of this place we mentioned above. Why not?  Because you have learned to trust God in all areas of your life. You are learning to lean onto Him instead of yourself. You have seen what trusting can render, and it's a place you'd rather be. Obedience is key and obedience is easy when you can trust the one giving the directions.

So encourage yourself. Continue trusting the Almighty and witness an open heaven upon your life. The rain will fall and bless you.

Enjoying the rain,
Keiyia JOYet George
