Day 40: I trust You, Lord. I'm moving on. Jeremiah 7:16; 11:14; 14:11
There's nothing harder than to be told not to pray for someone or about something. When you are taught to pray without ceasing, here God is instructing you not to pray for them or it anymore! Naturally you may be confused. Why would he give such a commandment to you? Don't pray for someone? Really?
When told not to intercede, you have to do just that. His thoughts are not our thoughts. His plan is not our plan. He has His reasons. Sometimes it's because He is about to pass judgment, and no matter how long we intercede, judgement is coming. Three times God told Jeremiah to stop praying for the people Judah. Further, He told him that even if they prayed, He wouldn't hear them. Yep. They could cry out all they wanted. This is one time God wouldn't listen.
Thus saith the Lord unto this people, Thus have they loved to wander, they have not refrained their feet, therefore the Lord doth not accept them; he will now remember their iniquity, and visit their sins. Then said the Lord unto me, Pray not for this people for their good. When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and an oblation, I will not accept them: but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence. Jeremiah 14:10-12 KJV
Can you imagine what a person or people could've done that's so bad God doesn't want His watchman to sound the alarm? He doesn't want His intercessors to intercede? It's not for you to wonder though. It's just for you to obey. Rather than toiling all night about it, simply ask Him what your next assignment is. It may seem tough, but keep it moving.
Trusting God when given a directive not to pray about something can be tough. It's understandable. But remember yesterday's reading? Obedience is better than sacrifice. If you feel led, ask Him why not. Nothing is stopping you from asking. But trust that He knows what's best and His mind is made up about a situation.
Walking on,
