Day 8: I trust You, Lord. Room has been made for my gifts. Proverbs 18:16
Far too often, believers are overlooked, second guessed, or pushed aside. While the Gift Giver has preloaded us all with gifts and talents, without trusting Him with them, we won't be able to use them.
Just think, as children, we had interests and special talents that baffled our parents. For instance, some may find they have a child who destroys every toy he has. Rather than calling him destructive, let's call him an engineer. Another has a child who speaks their mind. Let's call her a born leader. These are all special gifts: whether it tinkering with a new invention or blowing up a room during a science project, they are all inside of us waiting to be used.
As children grow, their environment, experiences, and other influences may lead them to leave their passion for their gift and do something else. Some will head to college while others join the workforce. Regardless, how many will be performing in their passion?
The first part of Proverbs 18:16 says our gift will make room for us. Sure, we can prepare by going to college or joining the workforce, but have we been placed in a box by someone other than our Creator? Have we decided that years of education is what's needed to have room made for us? Education is important but it's your natural born talent that will get you further.
The last part of this verse says that your gift will bring you before great men. Exercising your God given gift will make you an automatic commodity in the world. The mundane days of clocking in and clocking out will not be your portion because you are doing what God designed you to do. When you are aligned with His will for your life, people in high and low places have no choice but to notice your talent and they will 'scoot over' to make room for you.
Furthermore, your gifts and talents will bring many to the Kingdom. How? When nonbelievers witness you trusting God to train you in them and lead you with them and exercising your gifts from God, they will take notice. As the latter part of the scripture says, great men will take notice. It will give you the opportunity to give your testimony of trusting God to hone your skills, trusting God to send you resources, and trusting God to tell you where to go and what to do. Your example of trust will be a testimony of unspoken words.
Have you sat on your gifts or are you walking in someone's plan for your life? If you have turned from your passion, seek God. Ask him to reveal your special talents from Him. Repent for not using them or using them incorrectly. Now shift in the direction He leads you to and go be your great self He designed you to be. Don't worry, whatever room you need, there is already provision for it.
Walking in my destiny,
