Day 9: I trust You, Lord. My strength is renewed. Isaiah 40
Today's reading comes from the book of Isaiah, chapter 40. Like many of the prophets during this time, God used Isaiah to speak about His wrath for His people because of their disobedience (those Israelites never did stop complaining and disobeying...). But in chapter 40, God wanted the people to be comforted. He wanted to let them know that their God, who can judge harshly, can also love gently.
The people where beat down in their sin. Yes, their loving Father allowed them to be in this state. He'd spoken to them. Warned them. Over and over He told them to repent, but they continued in their ways. His people! His chosen people! Can you believe that?!?!
But look at the people today. Look at yourself. You are His chosen person. Have you turned away from Him because of a seemingly hardship?
At times, it may seem like this faith walk is draining and tiring. Day by day believers are under attack. The war never ends. It's like you just fought a good battle yesterday and today there's another right in from of you. When does it end!!?? Is this why people have chosen to stay in the state they are in, never repenting?
Warfare isn't easy. Even during peacetime you have to stay on your guard. You can rest assured knowing He is coming to renew you. You will be renewed as often as needed if you don't give up.
To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth. Isaiaha 40:25-26 KJV
The word of God spends a significant amount of pages reminding you who He is. He knew you'd grow weary and forget who He was. There is no one like Him. He is the only of His kind. Many have come claiming to be as great as He is, but they have failed. They are rotted in their graves. So trust Him to come to your rescue.
He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:29-31 KJV
Wait on him. He's coming. Don't grow weary and turn back. Don't be like the Israelites, grumbling and mumbling. Wait! Stand still! Keep guard! The battle isn't yours anyway. He has given you everything you need to see victory. Prayerfully, just wait! Just when you think you can't go any further, your strength will be renewed.
Spend some time reading about the lifespan of an eagle (also see Soar Like an Eagle - http://www.justmekjg.com/Home/ArticleID/96/Psalm-37-Part-6). This type of renewing will either break you down or lift you higher. What will you choose?
Soaring!
