Day 14: I trust You, Lord. This temptation in front of me is not too great. 1 Corinthians 10:13
We really have to change our thought pattern. We have to look at things on the bright side, remain positive, and be optimistic. A negative attitude will only beget a negative outcome.
When you look at a situation in defeat, you are already defeated. Satan is laughing at you. He thinks it's all a game. He calls you his play toy. You have to practice thinking positive thoughts and outcomes. Then you must speak these things out loud. Today, people call them affirmations but there is power in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). Speak life and not death.
Why is this so important? Because daily you will be tempted over and over, and if you don't start practicing having positive thoughts now, you may succumb to your temptation. If you face these temptations with a defeated attitude, consider yourself defeated. And what's sad is you can overcome any temptation you face.
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV
In other words, you ain't special. Sorry. You will face temptations just like everyone else. It won't be something that people haven't faced before, and it will always be something that you can overcome. God, who is faithful, will not allow you to be tempted with something you cannot overcome. He will always provide a way out...a scapegoat. But never think it is God who is tempting you, though.
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. James 1:13-14 KJV
You are the cause of your temptations. How? Mostly it's not trusting God. Think of every temptation you can in the next few minutes. What lead to that temptation? Was it the fact that you didn't trust God with something? Be honest!!
If you will trust Him for everything, you will have less temptations. Keep in mind that some will still come just because satan can't stand you! He will throw every curve ball at you, hoping to catch you in a weaken state. Look for any entry in a weaken point of your amour. When he comes, give him a black eye. Let him know who you are in Christ and that this temptation he has come with is nothing because you have a way out.
Stand firm and escape it! Then celebrate by giving God thanks.
His Word is true. If he said he'd provide a way out, you better believe there is a way out. Keep your eyes open and on your Lord. Trust Him with all of your cares. He has planned your escape route already.
