Day 39 - Trust Walk

Trust Walk Day 39:  I trust You, Lord. Doing because you said so. Luke 5:5

The instructions you get sometimes make absolutely no sense. None!  It's crazy!  But you have to do them. Why? Because obedience is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22). God doesn't want your money before He wants your obedience. He doesn't want your time before He wants your obedience. He didn't want Isaac before He wanted Abraham's obedience.

And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.  Genesis 22:2-3 KJV

According to this, Abraham didn't even think.  He just woke the next morning, early, and set out to do what he was commanded to do. Maybe he did think thoughts like 'this is crazy...', but he got up anyway and did. In the end, God stopped him from sacrificing Isaac because obedience is better than sacrifice.

Peter and his fishing crew were out all night fishing. They were done, having caught nothing. This Jesus fellow comes and asks Simone Peter to take Him out a little so He could continue teaching. They obliged Him.  Later, Jesus asked them to go out deeper and throw their nets out for a big catch. Now, they may have known Jesus wasn't a fisherman...or maybe they didn't. One thing is for sure, they didn’t have those fishy GPS tracker thingies back then, so how did Jesus know fish were there?  Nevertheless, Peter did as he was told.

And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
Luke 5:5 KJV

“Nevertheless,” he said. Nevertheless is like saying "Oh, well (shrug), ok."  It means, “That sounds crazy but whatever.”  Peter didn't know Him. He may have heard him teach that day, but Jesus could've been any random dude who needed a favor. Yet, regardless of how crazy it sounded, Peter dropped his nets into deeper water and caught more than he could carry on his own.

Why do you think Peter obeyed?  Maybe it was out of desperation. He did mention that they'd toiled all night and caught nothing. Maybe he felt they had nothing to lose. He had men to pay, families to feed, money needing to be made. One last try wouldn't hurt.

When God speaks to us, most times it's ever so lightly. Sometimes the instructions given makes no sense, but follow them anyway. This may be your last chance.  You have nothing to lose.  Try it.

A lady shared how her husband, a preacher, was strung out on drugs again. When she woke one day, she was given a series of instructions, one by one. Catch this bus. Get off at the next stop. Turn right at the intersection. Go to the yellow house. Knock three times. Take your husband home. What was the outcome?  Her husband has committed his life to Christ (for real this time).  She’d already turned her life completely over to God.  She’d given Him her husband and their children.  Following these instruction, although weird, was desperation.  She had nothing to lose anyhow.  It’s not like this was the first time her husband disappeared.

Can you receive these type of instructions, without knowing what the end result would be? Making each turn blindly. Going to an unknown place. This is the type of obedience we need to have to be in God's perfect will.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.  Jeremiah 29:11 KJV

There is a plan for your life. It's a perfect plan. If you would stick with it, you will be engulfed with peace. Things will be easy. You can be in complete rest. Instead, you've gotten off the path and things are hard. It's not too late to get back on the path. It won’t be easy to get back, but one you are own, nothing will bother you (because you know you are on the perfect path).  You just have to obey.  The end result has already been created and you can believe it's a good result.

You only have to obey. Obey every command. Shake off the chains of society. Stop letting them decide who you are and what you will do. Trust the instructions given by the Almighty and go. Haven't you toiled enough?  Isn't it time to try something else?

Going blindly,
