Day 21: I trust You, Lord. I will show hospitality without grumbling. 1 Peter 4:9
Each person on this earth was preprogrammed with gifts straight from Heaven. The Father equipped us all to fulfill a purpose. Some are sitting on their gifts, while others are misusing theirs. Nevertheless, the gift is yours and He won’t take them back. A few days ago the topic of your gift making room for you was covered. Now with this gift and the room that was made for it, what are you going to do now?
Use hospitality one to another without grudging. As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 1 Peter 4:9-10
Being hospitable means to be friendly and welcoming. How can the body of Christ grow if the true believers all walk around with a frown on their face? What really has you so grumpy? Why can’t you wake each morning with a renewed joy? Is it so hard? And who wants to be witnessed to by a grumpy person?
Joy is a fruit of the Spirit. If you have the Spirit, then you have joy. Where is it hiding? What has it covered up? Release it! Why? Because without this joy, you cannot be hospitable. Number one, no one will want to deal with you. You will be unable to share your God given gifts and talents for the Kingdom…unless your gift is frowning (which it most likely won’t be). Second, you won’t want to deal with others. You see, it takes a God given joy to be able to show hospitable in such a pure form. Without this, you will shun every opportunity to do good.
When being hospitable, there is no need to go out of your way, as your talents and gifts are enough to make anyone’s day shine. You see when a total stranger is in need, if they are walking in faith, God will lead them to the individual who has the gift to supply the need they have. It’s as simple as that. If it’s not that simple, one are both of you are not aligned with the leading of Holy Spirit. If you are the giver and intercept someone whose needs you cannot meet, don’t fret. Seek Holy Spirit and He will either guide you on what to do or to whom to send the person to.
Today, trust God to give you your joy back. Satan didn’t give it to you and he can’t take it away. Next, spend some time with Holy Spirit. Ask Him to allow you to be used in a hospitable manner. You can even start small with giving just a smile. Just as you are practicing to trust in all areas of your life, you will need to practice being hospitable with your gift and talents for the Kingdom.
Get to it. School is in session!
Smile!
